Bega is based in rural NSW on the far South Coast. It is approximately 25 minutes drive north west of Merimbula and an hour south west of Bermagui. Make Bega your place to stay, and take day trips from there. It’s the rural gateway to the NSW South Coast.

Here is what you can experience just a short drive from Bega:

  • Tathra and its pristine beaches are a 15 minute drive east. Tathra features a historic wharf, a trendy pub with sensational views and micro-brewery.

  • The coastal town of Merimbula is just 25 minutes’ drive south and features a beautiful lake, beach and shopping

  • Mimosa rocks winery for the wine lovers is only 45 minutes north east

  • Tura Beach Country Club – Take a trip 30 minutes south east of Bega and arrive at Tura Beach Country Club. Enjoy a meal overlooking the beach or hit the greens – ideal for competitive and social players.

More things to see and do

  • Enjoy the outdoors – use the banks of the Bega River or Kisses Lagoon for a picnic. At Glebe Park, there are picnic tables under the shade of trees for anyone to use.

  • Bega Cheese Heritage Centre – calling all history and dairy lovers! The heritage and visitor information centre is a great spot to learn all about the history of dairy farming in the area. You can take a tour and check out how cheese was made the old fashioned way.

  • Bega Valley Regional Gallery – the art gallery holds up to eight important exhibitions annually and entry is free. A cultural must see.

  • Take a stroll through the main street and appreciate the art deco and historic architecture. A prime example is the Bega clock tower built in 1930.
