How Horizon is Helping

Our communities on the South Coast have been severely impacted by the devastating bush fire crisis. Our staff, our members, local businesses and animals ... all have been touched by the bush fire crisis in one way or another. Our hearts go out to everyone affected. This is how we're doing our bit to help:

  • Donations to the all the Rural Fire Service brigades in the fire affected towns in which we have a branch;
  • Matching of staff donations dollar for dollar;
  • Provision of bottled water and eye drops for firefighters;
  • Creation of a Disaster Relief Package for affected members (see below);
  • Counselling for staff, their families and affected members;
  • Paid time off for staff who are Rural Fire Service volunteers.

We will be assisting chambers of commerce and councils in the recovery of communities and to help boost tourism to the South Coast.

Help for those Impacted by Bush Fire

If you’ve been impacted by bush fire please visit or contact your local branch to advise them of your situation. We may be able to assist you with all or parts of our Disaster Relief Package.

Disaster Relief Package
  • An opportunity to suspend home and personal loan repayments for up to three months;
  • Waiver of late fees for home and personal loan repayments;
  • Fast track emergency personal loans and credit card applications (normal credit criteria applies);
  • Waiver of the personal loan establishment fee;
  • Waiver of term deposit break costs.

  • The Claims department is currently working through implementing processes to ensure members who have made a bush fire claims will have no impact to their No Claim Bonus
  • CGU are offering a free hire car up to 14 days or until the claim is settled for bush fire impacted policy holders
  • Excess free claims for food spoilage
