You don’t need to be a member of Horizon Bank to apply for a personal loan, however if your loan application is approved you will then become a member.

Horizon Bank is a customer-owned bank, meaning our members are our shareholders and profits are returned in the form of competitive rates, fairer fees & next level personal service.

For a personal loan the minimum loan amount you can apply to borrow is $500 (secured or unsecured). You may want to consider a credit card or overdraft for smaller amounts. The maximum amount that can be borrowed in an unsecured loan is $30,000, although this will depend upon your circumstances. Secured loans are dependant on the security offered. In all circumstances our personal loans are limited by your ability to meet your repayments.

How much you will be able to borrow will depend on a few key factors such as your income, your expenses, any existing debts you may have & whether you are taking out the loan on your own or with someone else.

Want to know what your personal loan borrowing power is? Use our Personal Loan Calculator for an estimate.

Note: The results from the calculator should be used as an indication only. Results do not represent either quotes or pre-qualifications for a loan.

You can arrange to make your loan repayments either by payroll deduction, direct debit from your savings or transaction account, online banking transfer, by direct debit from another financial institution or at any of our Horizon Bank branches.

With a Horizon Bank personal loan, you have flexibility of choosing to make repayments weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. You can choose whichever suits you and your circumstances. If you wish to do so, for most personal loans you may make extra repayments on your personal loan without penalty, and you are able to (access) redraw on those additional repayments without a fee.

You can register for eStatements meaning you will be able to access your statements through the Online Banking Service.

Statements are produced monthly or six monthly, and you can request duplicate statements any time from our office. Your account information can be accessed through our Online Banking Service wherever, whenever.

The security required will depend on your individual circumstances. Examples of the type of security we may require are a mortgage over property or a motor vehicle. A fee is payable where this is required.
